Updates galore!
The team has been super busy these last few weeks and an update is long overdue.
First off, fundraising news. Our first event of the season, Yoga Day, was very popular and received positive feedback from all participants. Our Garage Sale event was also quite successful, despite the rainy weather. Thank you to all that supported us and also to all the volunteers.
Training wise, there isn't much to say except "there's no rest for the weary!" The team had an intense and rewarding four day training camp over the May long weekend. It included running, outrigger canoe paddling, an outing to Centre Island and lots of time in the dragon boat. Over the next few weeks, the intensity of our training will continue to increase as we get ready for the Nationals.
And finally - racing! The team has already had three races in Milton, Pickering and Lachine. In Milton, we ranked 13th overall out of 52 mixed crews, with a great 7th place performance in the 2000m race. In Pickering, we came out as the champions in the Sport Women division over 9 other women's crews. In Lachine, we raced in the highly competitive Sport Women division against the top women's teams from the Ontario and Quebec area. We finished 1st in the B division knockout round and 4th overall out of 11 crews. Check out our results, and some videos, here.
Next on the agenda? Training, racing at the TIDBRF and then... off to Nationals!
